Dyno Tuning

How does Motorcycle Dyno Tuning Work?

The objective of dyno-tuning is the optimisation of certain parameters within the bikes ECU. We generally focus on optimising areas of fuel injection mapping and ignition mapping. We inspect stock (or quality after-market) units designed for your specific model. We place the motorcycle on the dynamometer to simulate riding conditions. We then evaluate the engine’s performance and identify possible areas for improvement.

Motorbike tuning is not purely computerised with automatic remapping. Motorcycle dyno tuning requires considerable input from the technician and the rider, especially with a modified bike containing after-market exhausts or engine modifications. Our dyno tuning setup allows us to measure all relevant parameters from the onboard sensors and wideband O2 sensors.

Summarily, we achieve tuning by remapping the operational parameters in the ECU. There are three tuning options available based on what is best for you and your bike:

  • Flash Tuning: Rewrites the stock ECU internal mappings with our new parameters
  • Piggyback Tuning: Uses an intermediary module to adjust the fuel and ignition signals
  • After-Market ECU: Installation the new ECU unleashes the full potential of your engine, and give us flexibility in tuning strategies that we can implement.

Camshaft Kits & Upgrades

In simple terms, changing the Camshaft increases airflow to the engine, this usually results in more power and torque.

There are multiple Cam options and designs available based on what you would like to improve. If you're in the market for a cam upgrade and are unsure which direction to go in feel free to reach out to us. one thing to consider is where you would like to increase the power. Down low in the rpm or up high? everybody is different so its not a one size fits all situation.

We mostly cover the V-Twin platforms of Harley Davidson and Indian Motorcycles, with a speciality in Milwaukee Eight Engines, Twin Cam Engines, Sportster Engines, and Thunderstroke 111 or 116.

Enquire for other makes and model applications (Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda etc.)

Exhaust Upgrades

How to know which exhaust to get - It's a subjective choice but you should consider three topics: Aesthetics, Performance, and Sound.

Generally (when discussing Harley Davidson Softails/Dyna Pipes), 2-2 exhaust pipes make great low-mid RPM torque; and 2-1 exhaust pipes make great mid-high RPM torque. There are exceptions to this rule such as the 2-2X exhausts that have a smooth crossover to joint he pulses from each cylinder (they tend to give much higher RPM performance than a typical 2-2 exhaust).

To get the most our of your exhaust selection, you need to consider which Camshaft you have (if you have a stock pipe, then you could go either way and gain power).

If you like the aesthetic of a particular exhaust, then you should always try to match that with the appropriate Cam selection to avoid any disappointment in results
